News: News Maker Of 2008 |
 |
|
Some call him arrogant and blunt, others call him debonair and devastatingly handsome. Nevertheless, Shaan is the bad boy of Pakistan's film industry. With an attitude that has miffed many, Shaan has always managed to be in the news for all the wrong reasons.
Lately, Shaan has been quite vocal when expressing his views on films released in 2008; take the case of Jawed Sheikh and Mehreen Jabbar's films. For Mehreen's Ramchand Pakistani says he, "Bad! Mehreen needs to actually sit down and figure out what she wants. If the country is like a burning house and if I make a film on flies, where is the relevance? The film should make a statement about the present-day situation highlighting her point of view. Ramchand Pakistani doesn't do that. She should stick to making plays and moreover she is a Jabbar, she doesn't need to work."

Theater Producers Association and artists protested against the new timing 8pm to 11pm for starting the theatre's plays here at Saturday.
The producers and the artists said that the timing were not appropriate for their business as the public most often come out of their home for theatreentertainment at 10pm after closing their jobs and business. They said government's decision of starting theatre at 8pm would ruin the theatre business that would further add to the economic depression in the country.
At the forum the association's Changaz Awan said that the businessmen, traders and people belonging to the other walks of life usually leave their houses at 10pm and if the theatres were started at 8pm that would be of no avail for both audiences and the public. He said the government's decision was no justifiable. He said that would finally lead them toward hunger strike.

 |
|

The All Pakistan Music Conference (APMC) has organized a classical music concert at Al-Hamra Hall III, where well-known artists performed at the occasion.
Amjad Parvez (vocal) performed Raag Jaijaiwanti and Khayal in Raag Todi. Sarod player Asad Qizilbash enthralled the music buff with its wistful performance of Raag Malkauns and Raag Baharvi.
During his performance, Qizilbash also told about sarod to audience, and said the sarod was a stringed musical instrument, used mainly in classical music. Along with the sitar, it is the most prominent instrument in (north Indian) classical music.
The sarod is known for a deep, weighty, introspective sound. Qizilbash was born in 1963, and his father, the well-known and much appreciated KH Qizilbash, was himself a very educated and talented self-made violinist.
